Discover unique pottery pieces for your home and garden.
My practice in pottery is deeply rooted in a personal journey of reconnecting with the earth. I work with both commercial clay and local clay sourced from Port Credit, Mississauga, a process that has transformed my relationship to the materials I use. Harvesting, filtering, and working with clay from the land has been a profound experience, allowing me to not only understand the raw materials but also the land itself.
In my exploration of various firing techniques, I experiment with Raku, Obvara, and Naked Raku, methods that allow for unexpected and beautiful results. Raku, in particular, has become an essential part of my practice, as the rapid firing process and subsequent cooling create unique textures and surface treatments that reflect the unpredictable nature of fire. Similarly, Obvara’s smoke and carbon effects, and the raw, unglazed aesthetic of Naked Raku, offer me opportunities to explore the intersection of function and expression, pushing the boundaries of traditional ceramics.
Through these techniques, I aim to create both functional and sculptural ceramic pieces that carry the essence of the earth—blending practicality with artistry—while honoring the natural world from which they are derived. Each piece is a reflection of my ongoing dialogue with nature, fire, and clay, serving as a reminder of the intimate connection between maker, material, and place.
